Place Value to One Million

Learn it

Each place is worth 10 times the place to its right: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions.

In 458,207 the 4 is in the hundred thousands place, so it is worth 400,000. The 8 is worth 8,000 and the 0 holds the tens place.

You can write a number three ways: standard form (458,207), word form (four hundred fifty-eight thousand, two hundred seven) and expanded form (400,000 + 50,000 + 8,000 + 200 + 7).
